Water can have different density's

While traveling thru the "grand canyon of Florida" we observed a interesting sight.  This is apparently where fresh water comes into the salty and very muddy water of the canal.  The two waters have different densities and can exist in their pure forms without mixing unless there is something causing them to mix together.  Because the salty canal water is very muddy and the fresh water is clear it makes a dramatic difference in the apparence of the water.
